As humans, we are social beings and need social interactions to thrive. This is especially true when we travel. Traveling can be an incredible experience, but it can also be lonely and isolating, especially if we don’t have anyone to share it with. That’s why making friends or improving relationships while traveling is crucial. In this blog post, we will discuss some ways to make friends or improve relationships while traveling.
Be Approachable
One of the most important things you can do to make friends while traveling is to be approachable. People are more likely to strike up a conversation with you if you look friendly and approachable. Smile, make eye contact, and look open to conversation. You can also start a conversation by complimenting someone or asking for advice.
Join a Group or Take a Tour
Joining a group or taking a tour is a great way to meet new people. You’ll be spending time with people who share similar interests, and you’ll have a chance to bond over shared experiences. There are many types of groups or tours you can join, such as adventure groups, food tours, or language classes. You can find groups or tours that fit your interests by searching online or asking at your accommodation.
Use Social Media
Social media can be a powerful tool for making friends while traveling. You can use platforms like Facebook, Instagram, or Couchsurfing to connect with people in your destination before you even arrive. You can also join travel groups or forums to meet people and get tips for your trip. Just be sure to practice caution when using social media and never share too much personal information.
Attend Local Events
Attending local events is another great way to meet people while traveling. Look for events such as festivals, concerts, or cultural events. You can find events by searching online or asking locals. Attending events will allow you to immerse yourself in the local culture and meet people who share similar interests.
Stay at Hostels
Staying at hostels is a popular choice for travelers, and for a good reason. Hostels are an affordable accommodation option, and they’re also a great way to meet other travelers. Many hostels have common areas where people can hang out and socialize. Look for hostels with social events or activities, and be open to meeting new people.
Make Your Travel Environment Fun
Finally, remember that the best way to make friends while traveling is to create an environment that’s fun and inviting. If you’re staying in a hostel, bring a deck of cards or a board game to share with other travelers. If you’re traveling with friends, invite people you meet to join you for a drink or a meal. The more open and friendly you are, the more likely you are to make lasting connections.
In conclusion, making friends or improving relationships while traveling is essential for a fulfilling travel experience. Whether you join a group or take a tour, use social media, attend local events, stay at hostels, or make your travel environment fun, there are many ways to connect with people while traveling. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and try new things. You never know who you might meet!

No more worrying about running out of clean undies or finding a laundromat during your trip. These disposable beauties don’t require any reservations! So, let’s make traveling light and hassle-free – one pair of disposable underwear at a time.
Why buy disposable underwear?
Disposable underwear has a variety of travel applications. Here are some of our favorite situations:
Trips where you have space & weight limitations
Trips that last for long periods of time
Times when you could lose your luggage (checked bags vs carry-on bags)
Business trips
Outdoorsey activities such as camping, hiking, backpacking, sports, safari, etc.
Working out
Hospital stays
Long flights where access to the restroom is limited or difficult
For less than a dollar a pair, you can have peace of mind and reliability during your travels.
What types of disposable underwear can I buy?
Cotton Based Underwear
Typically made of a relatively thin cotton that is soft, stretchy, breathable, and relaxing. In order to fit various types of bodies, there is typically a small amount of elastic in the waist and leg areas. Be aware of this as you plan for sizing.
The cotton is high enough quality to be washed a few times, if needed, however it is not as durable as standard undergarments so do not rely on its durability after a few washings. Clothes washing machines may shorten the lifespan of the garment more than hand washing.
It can be used safely without washing before wearing.
Synthetic Cotton & Maximum Absorbency Underwear
Primarily designed for incontinence, this underwear is comfortable and highly absorbent. It has smell-neutralizing components that leak out of the actual underwear and can be purchased with appealing floral or fresh scents. Due to the absorbent nature of the product, it is one-time use only and cannot be washed.
There are a variety of styles, cuts, materials and colors for all body shapes. It can be purchased at any retailer that carries feminine hygiene products and may be less expensive than pure cotton-based options because it comes in bulk.
Where to buy disposable underwear in-store?
Most major retailers do not sell cotton disposable underwear in-store. They have a large selection of Synthetic Cotton Maximum Absorbency underwear that can be found near the feminine hygiene products.
If you are looking for cotton underwear specifically, you will need to order online.
Has a few options for cotton underwear and they are all sold through a third party retailer (standard shipping is 3 days). There are many options for synthetic underwear from Walmart directly.
Company founded on the goal of reducing the amount of dirty laundry after a vacation by creating disposable underwear, socks, and plane chair sheets. There are various styles of underwear and all come in a 5 pack.
With its sunny beaches, gnarly swells, and laid-back vibe, San Diego is the perfect place to enjoy all things surfing. If you’re interested in enjoying the sport without getting a toe wet – then we have some amazing spots for you to watch surfers in action.
Whether you’re a local or just visiting, watching surfers carve up the waves can be an exciting and entertaining experience. In this guide, we’ll explore some of the best places in San Diego to catch a glimpse of the best surfers in their element.
So grab your sunscreen and a beach chair, and let’s dive into the best places to watch surfers in San Diego!
What is the best time to watch Surfers in San Diego?
Time of the Day
The morning and evening are frequently the finest times to go surfing. You will find the highest number of quality surfers on the ocean either early in the evening or just before sunset.
Due to pressure differentials between the land and ocean, surfing is best when an offshore wind is blowing, typically at the beginning & end of the day. In the middle of the day, on onshore wind sometimes known as a “sea breeze” develops as hot air from the land rises while cooler air from the sea flows beneath it. This blows the wind away from the ocean, toward the land, which makes for less ideal surfing conditions.
What are the best places to watch Surfers in San Diego?
This place has waves for days! With miles and miles of sweet little breaks, you’ll see all kinds of surfers from the newbies just starting out to the gnarly veterans who shred those waves like nobody’s business. Plus the Oceanside Pier is pretty cool! It’s huge! At almost 2,000 feet long, it’s one of the longest piers on the whole dang West Coast.
For spectators
The pier is one of the few places where you can catch a bird’s eye view of the surfers as they ride the waves and show off their moves. It’s always fascinating to watch them scope out the perfect wave from afar and then ride it all the way to shore. And, if you’re lucky, you might even see a brave surfer weave through the wooden pillars of the pier for an even more radical ride!
The surfing community in Oceanside is strong and it’s a blast to soak up their energy and excitement. Don’t forget to grab a bite at one of the cool surfer-run restaurants nearby, like the Beach Break Cafe or The Privateer. Hang loose, dudes and dudettes!
This spot is so good, even the seals come to hang out! And who can blame them? With miles of sandy beach, crystal-clear water, and perfect waves, it’s no wonder everyone loves it here. You’ll see surfers of all levels, from first-timers to seasoned pros, and everyone is just having a blast. Plus, with well-staffed lifeguards and plenty of amenities, you can sit back and relax without a care in the world. Just don’t forget your sunscreen – you don’t want to end up looking like a lobster!
For Spectators
There are two primary surfing areas on the beach. You’ll find the surfers by the best breaks on the south end of the shore (rolling in towards the pier). The area is has a very beachy vibe with a few fun restaurants, parks, and beach supply rental shops.
The waves here are no joke – they’re powerful, fast, and really pack a punch. But that doesn’t stop the local surfers from carving up the ocean with style and grace. Windansea has some of the most consistent surfable waves in San Diego which typically draws a decent number of surfers at peak wave times. This spot is definitely for more advanced surfers, not beginners. While you’re there, be careful not to ruffle any feathers with the regulars – they can be a bit territorial.
For spectators
If you’re looking for a front-row seat to watch some surfers catch some gnarly waves – head down the stairs to the beach off of Neptune Place street. With its high cliffs and natural arena, Windensea gives you the perfect angle to watch good surfers in action. If you want some shade take a little break in the permanent tiki hut on the beach.
Make sure to park your ride before heading down to the beach, as parking can be a bit of a challenge. But once you’re there, you’ll be treated to one of the best free shows in town.
This place is the cream of the crop when it comes to surfing spots in San Diego, and it’s not just the locals who know it. World champion Kelly Slater himself calls this place his fave in the world! So, you know you’re in for a treat. The waves here are so long and perfect that you’ll see some of the most epic surfing ever. And if you’re lucky, you might just catch a glimpse of some pro surfers in action.
For spectators
The beach is a long walk in from the parking lot. It also requires some light hiking to get down to the beach.
The area south of San Diego known as Point Loma is composed of rugged sea cliffs and is known collectively as the Sunset Cliffs. If you’re looking for a real surfers’ paradise, this is where it’s at! This spot is strictly for the locals, so you know the surfers here are the real deal. And the breaks here are so diverse that they can be surfed on a longboard or shortboard.
For spectators
Sunset Cliffs can be a little tricky to reach. Once you reach the parking lot, you’ll need to take the narrow staircase down from Sunset Cliffs Blvd. Make sure to wear some good movement shoes because, you might need to scramble up and down the bluffs & cliffs to get a good view.
I love nerdy things. Any time I find myself in situation where I know there’ll be a Funko Pop or two and some good company, I’m ecstatic. When I discovered nerdy travel accessories, it was like rolling my first polyhedral dice across the villain’s dungeon map.
What nerd doesn’t like fun travel accessories? Everyone does!
From tech gadgets to keep your electronics powered up and luggage accents that ensure you’re traveling in style, having the right travel accessories makes your journey as smooth as light speed. I’ve rounded up 30 of my top travel products for you to bring on on your next trip – let me know if I’ve missed anything!
Luggage Must-Haves
Just as Geralt of Rivia’s mercenary exploits lead him to new places, people, and compromising situations, your travels will hold unexpected new experiences! And require a bit of logistical preparation. Although you won’t have trusty Roach, you can find dependable luggage to ease the burdens of your trip.
If only we all had Hermione’s Undetectable Extension Charm Bag that would allow for an almost infinite amount of space in a suitcase… think of the number of outfits you could bring to a convention or Renaissance Faire!
Quality gadgets amplify the skills of stealthy stars like James Bond, Tony Stark and Ethan Hunt. They know what we know – there’s nothing like a dead battery to slow down an evolving adventure.
Keep all your accessories charged up with a power bank, travel adapter or global charging kit. Assuming you don’t have a private airplane or jet-powered suit, you will likely need some entertainment in-route to your destination. I recommend an iPad and some statement headphones (Hello Kitty, Elf Ears or AirPods with a Nerd-y case).
As you get ready to embark, there are a few last-minute small gadgets that deserve a spot in your travel bag. A Bluetooth adapter will allow you to use your regular cordless earbuds to tap into a headphone jack audio system (in a car or on an airplane). Give your luggage some extra love by using a digital luggage scale to meet weight requirements before getting to the check in counter, and adding a Tile Pro to each of your bags to easily locate them if they get lost.
Despite mask mandates ending earlier this year, many travelers are still choosing wear a face mask when they travel. Stock up on a set of Pokémon masks that will comfortably protect you from sickness in public places. If you’re traveling to a destination that requires you to present a vaccine card, keep it in a small Harry Potter themed holder.
When it comes to general travel health, Spider-Man hand sanitizer is a must—buy a set for each of your carry-on bags, totes, and backpacks. Emergen-C vitamin packets are a great way to give your immune system an extra boost and are easy to bring along.
Closing out this collection of nerdy travel accessories are some extra fun odds and ends. You never know when someone will try to steal your identity so disguise your passport with a clever gamer case.
Staying HYDRA-ted is a constant battle that requires a good reusable water bottle. Now you can stop buying overpriced bottles at the airport, helping both your wallet and the environment. Win-win.
When you’re done saving the day toss your pedestrian clothes and super-suit into a large travel laundry bag. Kick back and relax after a long days work – you deserve it!
Looking to add a little ROMANTIC sizzle to your ho-hum hotel room?
You’re in the right place!
Here’s what you’ll find on this page…
One Sentence Summary:
This page contains the steps needed to decorate a hotel room for a romantic getaway, tips & tricks, easy romantic decoration theme ideas, and common mistakes to keep in mind.
Step 1: Choose a location (Motel, Bed & Breakfast or Hotel)
Why Choose a Hotel?
Hotels are typically well established and conveniences oriented than other accommodations. They offer high quality amenities, a variety of room styles & sizes, considerate customer service.
Alternatively, hotels are often more expensive than a motel and less personal than a bed & breakfast.
When it comes to decorating for a romantic getaway, a hotel room is the perfect “blank canvas” because of the neutral color themes commonly used and abundance of lighting. Adorn your room with ease and rest assured that when it comes to clean up, as long as you don’t leave an egregious mess, the hospitality staff will take care of it. We recommend verifying an individual hotel’s decoration cleanliness policy before making a reservation.
Also, don’t be afraid to ask for couples benefits! See our recommendations in the Quick Tip below.
Quick Tip – Before you check in, ask the hotel what types of couples perks they offer. Many hotels will offer one or many of the following:
Room Discount (typically 20%)
Upgrading to a larger room or room with a view
Couples packages including extra amenities or additional perks
Late check out
Access to the spa or sauna
Decoration packages (the hotel will decorate and clean up for an extra charge)
Why Choose a motel?
Motels are ideal if you need to take a short stop while on the road. Although they offer less amenities, they are often more convenient, private, and inexpensive than a hotel. Additionally, the staff typically have a better pulse on local unique restaurants, activities, and shopping.
When it comes to decorating for a romantic getaway, a motel room should have all basic necessities. Since the standard room décor may not be as quality as other accommodations, you may want to add more decorations to improve the romantic vibe.
Motel staff are typically not as accommodating as hotel staff when it comes to decorating & clean up, so we definitely recommend understanding the facility’s policy before check-in.
Quick Tip – Utilize motel staff to make your romantic travel experience extra unique. Make sure to ask them for recommendations in the following areas:
Restaurants & shopping
Finding local tours or subject matter experts
Discovering “locals only” experiences and activities
Famous locations to visit in the area
Why Choose a Bed & Breakfast?
Bed & breakfasts are ideal for a relaxing, low stress romantic trip. They tend to have more charming features with amenity offerings that can be either highly unique & personal, or very minimal. You will need to do extra research and coordinate with staff to understand the options.
Since these locations often have small owner-operated staff, they require some extra effort from guests in the form of personal clean up check-out policies. Large messes can yield high fees at checkout.
If you’re trying to make your romantic decor a surprise, there are a few approaches you can take:
Have someone else decorate the room for you
Go early and decorate the room yourself
Ask the hotel staff to decorate the room for you
Pay a service to decorate the room for you (we recommend Uberoom)
How to Decorate Like a Designer?
The objective of your decorations is to make the hotel room look personalized, inviting and festive.
Before you check in, study pictures of the room from the website or a review site. If there are aspects of the hotel room that you don’t like, then cover them with things that you do like.
For example, common curtains, bedding, pillows, and lighting can easily be disguised with thoughtful embellishments. Bring your own comfortable pillows, purchase a themed throw blanket, or cover the curtains with a quality backdrop.
Further improve the ambiance by appealing to all of the senses: play fun music, open a delicious smelling air freshener (we recommend against candles because they can set off the fire alarm), turn on a themed loop video or picture on the TV, and hang additional mood lighting.
Remember that most hotel rooms come with a coffee pot, microwave, and/or refrigerator. These items can be used to creatively enhance your décor by allowing you to include small touches such as making small desserts, keeping flowers fresh, or cooking small pre-packaged meals.
The most meaningful romantic themes are based on the relationship you share with your significant other. When planning how to decorate your hotel room, we recommend basing your decorations on shared experiences or interests.
However, sometimes its difficult to find a common interest theme or your significant other wouldn’t appreciate that type of theme.
If that sounds like your situation, then feel free to use one of our Romantic party themes below.
Bring some steamy cheesy romance to your hotel room with these creative decoration ideas.
Start by converting your space into a quaint pizza parlor with striped awnings, patterned hanging garden fans, giant pizza balloons, and an inviting banner that says “I Love You to Pizzas”.
Add a few pizza plushy pillows to the bed and a large bouquet of two dozen red roses that practically scream “That’s Amore!”
Order pizza delivery or toss the pizza poppers into the microwave, open your gummy pizza candies, and let the night melt away as you watch Mystic Pizza or Pizza My Heart.
If your idea of a romantic vacation includes a relaxing morning with all the cozy comforts, then Breakfast in Bed is the theme for you!
Transform your hotel space with a pastel burlap pennant banner, “Pancakes and Pajamas” shimmer banner, and sweet strawberry hanging lanterns. Liven the room with fresh cut flowers and a friendly fluffy jumbo teddy bear. Improve the ambiance even more by playing some music from this Spotify playlist and using this Youtube video on the TV.
Add a few snug & warm finishing touches by including some bamboo wood breakfast trays, cushy slippers, and a stimulating New York Times Breakfast in Bed Crossword puzzle. Don’t forget to brew a cup of organic Peruvian coffee to go with it!
Whether your relationship started in the 1970’s or has only existed for 70 minutes, for this romantic trip All You Need is Love and some groovy décor.
Hang the colorful flower power wall decals around the room, psychedelic Abbey Road Beatles poster above the bed, and shiny disco balls from the ceiling. Plug in your “All You Need is Love” neon light and mind-bending lava lamp.
Throw your plush pink fur rug on the floor and your record coasters on the table.
Once the room is fully decorated, it’s time to execute the big reveal!
Hopefully your partner doesn’t know about your decorations ahead of time. If they do know or suspect something, we recommend charging ahead anyway! A fun decorated room is a thoughtful gesture and will still make your partner feel appreciated.
If they don’t know about your decorations and you’re trying to maintain the secret, we recommend doing the following to avoid making any mistakes:
Make sure the front desk doesn’t give away the surprise! If you have checked in earlier and already have the key, either ask the front desk ahead of time to be discrete when you check in or pretend to check in while your romantic partner waits somewhere else.
Talk about things that make it seem like you haven’t been in this place before. Comment on fun or interesting features of the hotel.
Ask your partner to open the door to the room door. This is pretty easy to do if you offer to carry most of the bags/luggage.

We recommend verifying an individual hotel’s decoration cleanliness policy before making a reservation.
Also, don’t be afraid to ask for birthday benefits! See our recommendations in the Quick Tip below.
Quick Tip – Before you check in, ask the hotel what types of birthday perks they offer. Many hotels will offer one or many of the following:
Room Discount (typically 20%)
Upgrading to a larger room or room with a view
Birthday packages including extra amenities or additional perks
Offering a special birthday menu for the birthday person (in the restaurant or through room service)
When it comes to decorating for a birthday, a motel room should have all basic necessities. Since the standard room decor may not be as quality as other accommodations, you may want to add more decorations to improve the birthday vibe.
Motel staff are typically not as accommodating as hotel staff when it comes to decorating & clean up, so we definitely recommend understanding the facility’s policy before check-in.
Quick Tip – Utilize motel staff to make your birthday travel experience extra unique. Make sure to ask them for recommendations in the following areas:
Restaurants & shopping
Finding local tours or subject matter experts
Discovering “locals only” experiences and activities
Famous locations to visit in the area
Why Choose a Bed & Breakfast?
Bed & breakfasts are ideal for a relaxing, low stress birthday trip.
If you’re trying to surprise the birthday boy or girl with your decorations, there are a few approaches you can take:
Have someone else decorate the room for you
Go early and decorate the room yourself
Ask the hotel staff to decorate the room for you
Pay a service to decorate the room for you (we recommend Uberoom)
How do you Decorate like a Designer?
The objective of your decorations is to make the hotel room look personalized, inviting and festive.
Before you check in, study pictures of the room from the website or a review site. If there are aspects of the hotel room that you don’t like, then cover them with things that you do like.
For example, common curtains, bedding, pillows, and lighting can easily be disguised with thoughtful embellishments. Bring your own comfortable pillows, purchase a themed throw blanket, or cover the curtains with a quality backdrop.
Further improve the ambiance by appealing to all of the senses: play fun music, open a delicious smelling air freshener (we recommend against candles because they can set off the fire alarm), turn on a themed video or picture on the TV, and hang additional mood lighting.
Remember that most hotel rooms come with a coffee pot, microwave, and/or refrigerator. These items can be used to creatively enhance your decor by allowing you to include small touches such as making small desserts, keeping flowers fresh, or cooking small pre-packaged meals.
The most meaningful birthday themes are based on the preferences and interests of the birthday boy or girl. When planning how to decorate your hotel room, we recommend basing your decorations on one of their favorite hobbies, interests, fandoms, or pieces of media (shows, movies, musicians, etc).
However, some people don’t have obvious interestsor wouldn’t appreciate a party based on their interests (for example: if my husband has another Golf themed party he’s going to lose it…).
If that sounds like your birthday person, then feel free to use one of our Birthday inspired party themes below.
Blow up a birthday bash with delicious treats, colorful decor and a large Pop of pizzaz! Start by covering curtains and doorways with shimmery silver foil curtains and a large metallic “Happy Birthday” balloon.
Open the cake scented, dog balloon animal air freshener and dim the lights. Hang twinkle lights around the space and set out the party favors (blow pops and balloon helicopters). Further set the mood by playing some music from this Spotify playlist and using this Youtube video on the TV.
Finish the room by tossing a few mug cakes in the microwave and topping them with colorful “Happy Birthday” candles. Don’t forget to wrap your balloon animal dog sculpture gift!
Whether you want to fight with cake or just cake shaped pillows, this Cake Fight party decor will knock your sox off.
Hang the vivid sprinkles wall decals around the room and the colorful hanging paper lanterns on the ceiling. Plug in your personalized cupcake light and blow up the silvery “Happy Birthday” balloons. Improve the ambiance even more by playing some music from this Spotify playlist and using this Youtube video on the TV.
Save the best sweet touches for last: mini cake charms, birthday cake popcorn, and the cupcake pinata. Once the cake sling shot gift is opened all bets are off!
Once the room is fully decorated, it’s time to execute the big reveal!
Hopefully the birthday person doesn’t know about your decorations ahead of time. If they do know or suspect something, we recommend charging ahead anyway! A fun decorated room is a thoughtful gesture and will still make them feel appreciated.
If they don’t know about your decorations and you’re trying to maintain the secret, we recommend doing the following to avoid making any mistakes:
Make sure the front desk doesn’t give away the surprise! If you have checked in earlier and already have the key, either ask the front desk ahead of time to be discrete when you check in or pretend to check in while the birthday person waits somewhere else.
Talk about things that make it seem like you haven’t been in this place before. Comment on fun or interesting features of the hotel.
Ask the birthday person to open the door to the room door. This is pretty easy to do if you offer to carry most of the bags/luggage.
